Inspiring visit to the School of Design and Creative Arts, Loughborough University

On the afternoon of Wednesday 29th January, the Midlands Packaging Society hosted their first in-person event for 2025 with twelve guests from the Midlands Packaging Society and their industry network visiting the School of Design and Creative Arts (SDCA) at Loughborough University. An engaging and informative event was co-ordinated by MPkgS committee member and Lecturer in Design Dr Nikki Clark to showcase the excellent packaging-related activities being conducted across teaching, research and innovation.
The event included presentations and tours of two of SDCA’s buildings (Design Building and Martin Hall) and included a tour of the state of the art DigiLab East. Special thanks must be given to SDCA’s packaging group members who passionately talked about their packaging related work.

George Torrens – Appropriate Paper-based Packaging Technology presentation and models
Patrick Pradel – Tour of our rapid prototyping facilities
