Sustainable Packaging: Is it all it’s cracked up to be?

The conference will bring you an honest, thought‑provoking day exploring what sustainability in packaging really delivers — separating ambition from reality, myth from impact, and hype from what actually works.

This year’s conference will be held in the School of Design and Creative Arts at Loughborough University on Wednesday 22 July 2026.

Speakers confirmed as follows:

  • Keynote speaker – James Piper, Creator & Co-Host of Talking Rubbish, author of The Rubbish Book, co-owner of Ecosurety, and a non-executive director of OPRL.
  • Dr Adam Read MBE, Chief External Affairs and Sustainability Officer,Suez– delivering circular materials, circular solutions, a circular economy ….. and dispelling myths
  • Adam Herriott, Senior Specialist, Wrap – The Packaging Pact
  • Lianne Pemberton, UKI Sustainability Lead, Smurfit Westrock – corrugated perspective
  • Adam Robinson, Head of Sustainability, Paranova – Labels and cartonboard perspective
  • Dr Nikki Clark, Senior Lecturer in Packaging Service System Design, Loughborough University – Packaging Education research plans
