The MPkgS’s AGM will be held on Thursday 29 October 2026.

A visit to the Sherwood Observatory, Sutton in Ashfield, has been arranged prior to the AGM, starting at 6.00 for 6.30pm

 

The Observatory features

  • Sherwood Planetarium: A state-of-the-art 59-seater dome offering over 20 wrap-around immersive space shows.
  • Science Centre: Housed inside a lovingly renovated, brick-vaulted underground Victorian water reservoir built in the 1880s, featuring interactive exhibitions on galaxies and space observation.
  • Observatory Telescope: Operates one of the largest public-access optical Newtonian reflecting telescopes in the UK inside a 6.5-metre dome.
  • Radio Astronomy Centre: Functions as a base station for the UK Amateur Meteor Detection Network, tracking radio emissions from meteors and the sun.

 

After the tour of the Observatory we will hold the AGM at 8:00pm at the Junction Pub, 2 Newark Road, Sutton In Ashfield. NG17 5JP (a 3 minute car journey away), followed by a meal.
